Liz Smith was born in Brooklyn, New York. She published her first column in the New York Daily News when she was 14 years old, and her first book, The Liz Smith Papers, came out in 1988. In 2000 she released another book of columns called My Life In and Out of Show Business, which was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. Liz has been a favorite star interviewer of celebrities from all walks of life
She is a regular contributor to Newsweek and a frequent guest on CNN's Larry King Live and The Today Show.
